As seen in The Chester Standard: A law firm has provided lunch for staff on a Countess of Chester Hospital ward as a thank you for their tireless work during the coronavirus crisis.
Jolliffes, based in St John Street, Chester, has donated around 40 meals to cover two shifts on Ward 49 (gastrointestinal and liver services).
Managing partner Simon Williams has thanked Lesley Woodhead, the trust’s head of fundraising, for helping to coordinate the donation of the food to the “frontline heroes”.
He said: “Today (April 17) is actually my birthday and I’m humbled to have spent it collecting, buying and delivering lunch to the doctors and nurses at the Countess.
“It feels like such a small gesture but it is a sign of not only ours, but the whole country’s immense gratitude for what they are doing.”
Lowri Bate, a nurse on the ward, said: “Thank you so much. It was incredible and well needed time out for us all. So generous.”
